HIPAA Compliant Online & Telephone Counseling in Raleigh-Durham

Telephone counseling and video-chat therapy are the safest ways for you and your loved ones to get help during the CoVid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Teletherapy has been around for over two decades and gives you the freedom of being in your own home for your teletherapy sessions. We use HIPAA Compliant technology for online video sessions, so you can feel safe that your sessions are completely private.

In a 2002 study by Reese, Conoley, and Brossart in the Journal of Counseling Psychology, teletherapy is shown to be as effective as face-to-face counseling in building therapeutic rapport. This rapport, or trust, is by far the most accurate predictor of success in talk-therapy.

Individual teletherapy sessions are appropriate for almost any topic, including depression, anxiety, stress management, relationship problems, grief, and trauma, just to name a few.

But you don’t have to be experiencing anything specific to seek out telephone counseling. It is common for people to begin online counseling when the simply feel unsettled or confused. This helps them prevent more serious distress in the future.

Couples counseling over the phone or through video-chat is as effective as face-to-face therapy. Many people prefer video-based couples work so I can see the body language and facial expressions. While this is certainly helpful, it is not a requirement. Many people report that being at home helps them relax and remember things they have wanted to talk about in their couple’s counseling sessions.

I have completed Level-2 of the Gottman Method of Couples Counseling. The Gottman Method involves a thorough online assessment (free) that will highlight the strengths and needs of your relationship.

With Trauma & Crisis Counseling, it is important to stress three things:

  1. The sooner you get support after a trauma, the quicker you will get back to normal
  2. You will NOT have to re-live the traumatic experience you went through
  3. Just because you have post-traumatic stress (PTS) symptoms doesn’t mean you have a “disorder” (PTS-D)

With twenty years of experience in telephone and on-site trauma response, you are in highly qualified hands during a difficult time.
